If you know Joey Mills, you probably already have thoughts about him. And if you don’t know him yet – well, you’re about to.
The 27-year-old Missouri-born adult entertainer and social media personality has been one of the gay community’s most recognizable faces for nearly a decade, especially if you frequent very particular types of sites.
He’s built a fanbase that most influencers would kill for: more than 290,000 TikTok followers, millions of likes, and a presence that stretches well beyond his work in spicy content into reality television and outspoken social commentary.

This week, he went viral for all the right – and wrong – reasons. It started with 15 words. It ended with a full-blown community debate about relationships, boundaries, and what anyone is actually entitled to after a hookup.
What He Actually Said
It began during a “Hot or Not” segment alongside fellow performer Jake Preston, where the two were asked about their thoughts on casual hookups and gay dating culture.
Mills didn’t mince words.
“Get the f**k out of my house. I’m not going to give you my number,” he said.
That was it. Fifteen words. And they were enough to set social media on fire.
But Mills wasn’t done. Later in the same interview, he laid out his dream relationship in specific terms: he wants a bisexual man who is in an open relationship – dominant with him, and happy to pass him around to his friends. The internet, predictably, had thoughts.

The Backlash Was… A Lot
The response online was swift and, in many cases, pretty harsh. Beyond disagreeing with his views on hookup etiquette, people went after Joey’s appearance, his career, and his character in general.
It’s worth noting: attacking someone’s looks because you disagree with their opinions on cuddling is not exactly the high road. But this is the internet, so here we are.
The controversy tapped into a debate the gay community has never fully resolved – what do we owe each other after a casual hookup? Is it a mutual transaction, or the beginning of something? Does being the one who extended the invitation change the rules?
People had feelings. Loud ones.
He Clapped Back – And Didn’t Back Down
Mills responded with a follow-up video, and – to absolutely no one’s surprise – he doubled down entirely.
“Let me explain to you the situation,” he began. “Most people hooking up with me know who I am. If I invite you over, hook up with you, don’t see a potential in dating you, and I’m not interested in hooking up with you again, why would I let you stay over and cuddle?”
He continued: “Why would I give you my number so you can consistently text me? I’m not giving you my number. You are not entitled to my time and phone number.”
He also added that he has a pretty good read on his hookups’ motivations: “Half the people hooking up with me are only doing it to brag to their friends about it later. So no, I will not be entertaining them afterwards. Sorry not sorry.”
The follow-up actually won him back a significant chunk of the internet. Comments flooded in with support – “You don’t need to explain yourself. You set limits and people need to respect your limits” being a pretty representative sample of the vibe.
So, Who Is Joey Mills?
If you’re not already familiar, Joey grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, and entered the industry four days after turning 18 – by his own account, very much by design. He’s gone on to win quite a few awards, and has amassed a following that most influencers would envy, including being voted a fan favorite by Grindr users in December 2025.
But Mills has been building something beyond his on-screen work for a while now. He starred in X-Rated: NYC on OUTtv – a reality TV series that followed performers navigating life, friendship, and drama in New York – alongside Boomer Banks, Max Konnor, and Dante Colle.
It gave him a platform to show a different, more personal side of himself.
More recently, he launched DIY Dungeon on OUTflix – a genuinely wild docuseries in which he spends a week converting his St. Louis basement into a custom, well, dungeon space, with his mum and stepdad helping with the build and a camera crew filming everything.
It’s exactly as chaotic and oddly heartwarming as it sounds.
His new show, Ultimate Boys Trip – an OUTflix spin-off of X-Rated: NYC set in Miami – premieres April 28th.
Love him or not, Joey Mills has never had much interest in managing other people’s expectations. In his work, in his relationships, and apparently in his post-hookup etiquette – what you see is what you get.
Whether that’s refreshing or a lot probably depends on which side of his front door you’re on.
