Stop the presses, hold onto your hats, and maybe grab a fainting couch while you’re at it, because the universe has finally answered our thirstiest prayers.
In a collision of hotness that threatened to break the internet (and our poor gay hearts), Harry Styles – the walking definition of “swoon-worthy” – was confronted with a shirtless picture of Ryan Gosling.
The result? A heart rate spike that perfectly mirrored our own racing pulses.
Yep, our curly-haired heartthrob, looking like a snack himself, was hooked up to a heart monitor on BBC Radio 1, while an interviewer gleefully played a game of “How fast can we make Harry’s heart race?”.
For those who’ve been living under a rock, Harry Styles rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction before launching a successful solo career and venturing into acting.
Ryan Gosling, on the other hand, is the dreamy Canadian actor known for roles in films like The Notebook, La La Land, and of course – Barbie.
During his BBC Radio interview, Styles maintained his cool when shown images of his former bandmate Zayn Malik and even a briefcase full of cash.
But when presented with a steamy shot of Gosling from The Notebook, Styles’ heart rate noticeably spiked:
“It’s a good scene,” Styles commented, trying to play it cool as the monitor betrayed his excitement. “He’s very handsome.”
The video, which is now a few years old, quickly went viral, catching the attention of none other than Ryan Gosling himself.
When asked about Styles’ reaction in a subsequent interview, Gosling playfully responded:
“I’m more concerned he might have a heart condition. It’s less about me and more about something more serious…
My prayers are with him and I hope he has a safe and swift recovery.”
While we can’t all be hooked up to heart rate monitors when we see our celebrity crushes, it’s oddly comforting to know that even Harry Styles isn’t immune to a little Gosling-induced tachycardia.
