Benson Boone’s Pants-Down Bathroom Confession Joins A Very Long List

A small bathroom at a concert venue. Two stalls, two urinals. And standing at one of them is Benson Boone, with his pants not unzipped but pushed all the way down to his ankles.

Someone walks in. Benson doesn’t look. He assumes it’s one of his friends.

It isn’t. It’s a fan on his way to the show, and he stops dead. Benson hears the gasp.

And Benson turns around.

The 24-year-old Beautiful Things singer had never told this story on camera until Thursday’s episode of the Australian podcast Life Uncut, and he told it in far more detail than we’d ever expect from a pop star. Including why his pants were down in the first place, and what that fan said next.

The Bathroom He Didn’t Know Was Public

It happened about two and a half years ago, on the last tour Benson played before he moved up to arenas. The venues were amphitheaters holding a couple of thousand people, and this was opening night. “It was a really big deal to me,” he told hosts Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne, who recorded the interview in his room during his current stay in Australia.

For some reason, there was no bathroom for him backstage. The one he was using turned out to be shared with the audience. “Anyone in the audience could be in the bathroom that I was in, and I didn’t know that,” he said.

Then there’s the habit. Benson has a tight group of about five friends he grew up with, and back in high school they had a running bit for public restrooms. Most guys, as he put it, “just unzip and let it rip.” Not these guys.

“We do a thing where we just fully, like, take off our pants, and we’re standing there, like, with a shirt on but no bottoms,” he explained. The joke, apparently, is getting everything back up before a stranger walks in and catches you looking ridiculous.

One of the hosts asked the obvious question: if you walked into a bathroom and found five men standing there with their pants off, where would your brain go? Benson laughed it off. “Different brains. And that’s all right. I respect that.”

We have a few thoughts about where our brains would go. We’ll keep them to ourselves.

“Oh My Gosh, You’re Benson Boone”

On that opening night, Benson and two of his friends revived the bit. It was a small bathroom with two stalls and two urinals. “I walk in there, drop the drawers. They are fully at my ankles,” he said. And once you’ve started, he pointed out, you can’t exactly stop.

That’s when the stranger walked in. Benson didn’t look over, sure it was “one of my mates.” Instead, “it was a fan coming to the show, and he just stopped… I heard the gasp, and that’s when I turned.”

What followed was a conversation nobody has ever wanted to have at a urinal.

“Oh my gosh, you’re Benson Boone,” said the fan.

“Yep, I sure am,” said Benson. “Are you coming to the show?”

He was. So Benson asked what he was doing back there, and the fan had the only possible answer: “Uh, this is the bathroom. What are you doing back here?”

“It was so awkward. I was horrified,” Benson admitted. “Luckily, great guy. He was super cool.” He pulled his pants back up and shook the man’s hand, “before I washed my hands, by the way.”

You can watch him tell the whole thing below. The story starts about four minutes in, and his delivery is half the fun.

Benson Boone’s Very Long List

If any of this sounds on brand, that’s because Benson has a history of giving people more than they bargained for. Gay Twitter, in particular, has been keeping notes.

At the 2025 Grammys, his tuxedo was torn off on stage to reveal a shimmery baby blue jumpsuit cut down to the navel. He did his flips. Then, as he took his bow, the cameras caught him giving that jumpsuit a very firm, very public adjustment below the belt. The next morning he apologized on his Instagram Story: “Sorry for adjusting my jumpsuit so aggressively on stage tonight. That thing was extremely restricting in certain areas.”

Days later, he leaned straight into it with a video of himself lounging around in the same jumpsuit, captioned “when it hurts but you still like it.”

A few months before that, at the end of September 2024, a fan filmed him leaving his Cincinnati show in nothing but a Speedo and cowboy boots. Gay Twitter did not need to be asked twice.

Then came the shirtless photo in bed that got him accused of queerbaiting in October 2024, after one viral post claimed he was thirst-trapping gay fans to boost his popularity. Out pushed back, arguing that a straight guy posting a hot photo isn’t the same as manipulating anyone, and that a lot of us are simply thirsty. (We’ve made our own peace with the queerbaiting question.)

None of these moments was a real scandal. This is a man who backflips off pianos for a living and has never seemed especially shy about his body. It took a stranger walking into a bathroom that was technically his to finally make him blush.

He’s not even the first pop star with a men’s room story worth telling. Troye Sivan once had an awkward men’s room encounter with his teenage crush Zac Efron. Benson’s version just involves a lot fewer pants.

The Moment He Knew He’d Made It

When Benson finished the story, the hosts asked whether that was the moment he knew he’d really made it: when he finally got his own bathroom.

“Yeah, I guess it was,” he laughed.

He has plenty of private bathrooms these days. His Wanted Man Tour picks up again in Asia later this month before heading to Australia for nine arena shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney from November 6 to 19. He’s also working on his third album.

And for anyone wondering, one of the hosts mentioned that, according to her Googling, Benson is single. Asked whether he’d ever date a fan, he said he’d much rather be the one doing the chasing.

One fan, meanwhile, already has a Benson Boone story nobody else is going to top. He got a handshake out of it, too.
