Troye Sivan, the openly gay, openly hot, openly Australian singer-songwriter, seems to have a knack for memorable encounters in unexpected places – and in this case, the men’s bathrooms.
While most of us might hope to meet our celebrity crushes at fancy events or exclusive parties, Troye’s experience was decidedly more… awkward.
A few years back, he shared the hilarious story of meeting his teenage crush – none other than Zac Efron – during an audition, and it remains one of the most endearingly cringeworthy celebrity encounters we’ve heard.

The South African-born, Perth-raised artist has come a long way since his early YouTube days (where he also came out as gay in a heartwarming video).

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen a few years ago, Troye revealed that Zac Efron, was his first celebrity crush.
When asked if he’d ever met the High School Musical and Baywatch heartthrob, Troye shared a story that had everyone squirming (maybe with envy?).
“I have met him twice,” Troye explained. “I had my crush on him when I was younger, and then I had an audition for a movie he was going to be in – and I had a callback, where I auditioned against him.
“And we went to the bathroom at the same time, and we were standing next to each other, and I was like… OH MY GOD!”
The story gets even better when Andy Cohen pressed for more details.
“You’re peeing next to Zac Efron…” Andy prompted, clearly fishing for juicy details.
“I didn’t look!” Troye quickly clarified, causing the audience to burst into laughter.
Andy continued, “I know you didn’t look, but did you speak to him?”
“I never talk to people in bathrooms,” Troye replied firmly, giving us a glimpse into his personal bathroom etiquette rules.
Just imagine: Troye, standing next to his celebrity crush, trying to play it cool while internally freaking out. The silence must have been deafening.
Let’s be honest – we’ve all been there, though perhaps not with Zac freaking Efron.
